About

The aim of the CWAI professional network is to promote AI awareness, best practices, and networking among women through various activities, namely through joint events, supporting education and research, including collaborative projects, facilitating talent search, and encouraging diversity and inclusion by promoting women in the field of artificial intelligence. Individual goals of CWAI are primarily defined by the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee comprises members representing academia, business as well as government.

The professional network of Czech Women in Artificial Intelligence (CWAI) was established in August 2020 with significant support of the U.S. Embassy in Prague, namely the Science Director for Central and Eastern Europe at the Office of Naval Research Global, Dr. Stephen D. O’Regan, who inspired us to set up this professional network.

In October 2020, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Stephen B. King, organized a reception in honor of CWAI and hereby officially recognized the establishment of this professional network that aims to create a network of women experts in AI, share best practices and support students and young women interested in AI to define their future career. The inaugural online reception counting about 30 participants was held under the auspices of US Embassy in Prague and powered by MS TEAMs. The reception was opened by Deputy Chief of Mission Mrs. Jennifer Bachus and Science Director for CEE, Office of Naval Research Global Mr. Stephen D. O’Regan, followed by speeches of Steering Committee members and introduction of women quests from US active in different AI areas. Through its constantly growing number of members, the platform has already created significant local impact and has built an important bridge between Czech and US women AI experts.
